During SXSW 2015 an array of Latino and Latina Tech leaders across several verticals and their allies convened in Austin, Texas to discuss the state of affairs for the [email protected] community in tech. This year’s agenda included a focus on finance, social good, the entry level to the pipeline (K-12 and college), Latino and Latina coders making change from the inside and conversations with Latino and Latina entrepreneurs in tech.
Due to the gamut of Tech Services which we offer, we were invited to contribute at this one-day invitation-only gathering for [email protected] leaders throughout tech; which included entrepreneurs, investors, media creators and social change workers. The summit was held during the yearly South by Southwest® (SXSW®) Conferences & Festivals which offer the unique convergence of emerging technologies, original music and independent films. In addition to learning from the other presenters, we think it was important for us to highlight the work the Latino community is doing in tech as entrepreneurs and employees which are stories that are not often told.
In addition, we believe it was important to attend this gathering of [email protected] leaders in tech given the important role that it plays in the global community. There is incredible talent in the Latino community that is fueling innovation and collaboration every day and we were excited to participate in the [email protected] in Tech Summit so that we could contribute to amplifying that message, celebrate successes and continue to drive change. We believe that initiatives like the [email protected] in Tech Summit are critical to overcoming the pipeline challenges that everyone is facing in the Tech space. Highlighting the stories and amazing work of [email protected] in the tech and innovation sector has set the foundation upon which we can build a brighter future.
Below can be seen the panel discussion which our organization contributed to. What do you think about the idea of a [email protected] In Tech Summit?
